Our History

The organization began on October 26, 1989 and was called Union of Christian Communities of El Salvador - UCCES (Uníon de Comunidades Cristianas de El Salvador). Beginning in August of 1997, we became Association for the Promotion of the Human Rights for the Children of El Salvador, APRODEHNI. This change arose because in November of 1996 the Law of Non-Profit Associations and Foundatations came into effect in El Salvador. This law requires that all groups that perform duties for the community shall legalize and assign a proper name that describes their fundamental objectives.

Since this point, we have worked with the many impoverished people in three provinces: La Paz, Sonsonate, and San Salvador. Our work continues today thanks to the generosity of individuals and groups.
