October 2007 - There is heavy flooding along the Salvadoran Coast. One
hundred
twenty-five families have been evacuated from their homes in Rio Viejo,
Los
Angeles, El Chingo, El Pito, and La Zarcera. El Chingo is where the
organic
garden project is happening. Gil, the director of APRODEHNI, doesn't say how those gardens are
doing
right now.
APRODEHNI staff is helping in the communities; however, they don't have
enough money to provide needed food, medicines,sleeping mats, and
sheets.
They are most worried about the children who are being affected. The local
municipal
government has not responded to help with the basic necessities of the
people, many of whom are our friends.
Friends
of the Children of El Salvador is trying to collect enough funds to assist APRODEHNI in its mission to
help
these poor families. Please send checks to Friends of the Children of El Salvador. The money raised will then be wired to APRODEHNI.
